Optical Illusions : Simple Tutorial!

Hey everyone! This post makes a super easy optical illusion, great to have some fun and trick your friends and family!

Supplies you’ll need:

1. A paper
2. A ruler
3. Black Marker
4. A pencil
5. Gray Marker/pencil

Note: The pencil is optional, I wanted to draw in pencil before sharpie/black marker in case I mess up, but you can go right into the marker. Also, I put three gray markers/pencils to show it’s up to you what to use as long as it’s gray.

Start by folding your paper in half, short side to short side.

Now, draw two parallel lines, about 1.5 inch away from the top/bottom. The space in between my two lines are about an inch.

Now draw two parallel horizontal lines from each of the two lines you previously draw and stop at the fold line. Then do the same from the bottom, so the lines connect at the fold line. Once again, the distance between my two lines is about 1 inch.

Now you want to add the rungs of the ladder, so space them out decently even.

Now add the rungs to the shadow of the ladder, in line with the rungs you just drew.

Now you want to start drawing over your sketch if you did it in pencil, but if you did it in sharpie your good to go. I did it in pencil, so continuing on, I outlined the shadow in a grey.

Next I outlines the ladder in black.

And that’s the complete drawing. But you must be wondering why it doesn’t look quite right…That’s because we need a certain angle…like the one below!

From an angle like this, it sure looks like the ladder is popping out doesn’t it?

And with that, you have completed this tutorial…well almost, the last step is to go trick your friends and have some fun with this!
